DRILLING FLUID TESTING LABORATORY AND LABORATORY EQUIPMENT
The drilling fluid laboratory plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency of drilling operations. Specialists conduct analyses of various drilling fluid properties, allowing for timely identification and resolution of potential issues.
Drilling Fluid Control Laboratory
The drilling fluid testing laboratory performs a wide range of analyses and tests to assess the quality of drilling fluids. The main tasks of the laboratory include:
  • Density Determination
An important parameter affecting wellbore pressure.
  • Viscosity and Thixotropy
Measurements of plastic viscosity, dynamic shear stress, and static shear stress that determine the fluid’s ability to carry and suspend cuttings.
  • Filtration Properties
Analysis of the fluid’s ability to prevent loss of circulation.
Chemical Composition
Includes testing for salt content, total hardness (calcium and magnesium), potassium levels, active clay (solid phase) content, and other chemical additives.
The drilling fluid laboratory performs the following key functions:
Quality Control
Regular inspections and testing of fluids at all stages of drilling, including incoming quality control of chemical reagents.
Development of New Formulations
Creation and testing of new drilling fluid compositions tailored to specific drilling conditions.
The Importance of the Drilling Fluid Laboratory
The work of the laboratory is vital for successful drilling and accident prevention. Regular analysis and monitoring of drilling fluids allow you to:
  • Prevent Problems
Early detection and correction of defects in the fluid composition.
  • Improve Economic Efficiency
Reduce costs associated with drilling fluids.
  • Enhance Safety
Ensure stability and reliability of the drilling process.
The drilling fluid analysis laboratory is an integral part of modern drilling operations. It ensures high quality and reliability of drilling processes, helping to prevent accidents and reduce costs. Modern methods and technologies enable precise and rapid analyses, significantly enhancing operational efficiency.
We have our own testing laboratory equipped with modern measurement and testing equipment, with access to a wide range of advanced methods for studying the structure and properties of materials.
The laboratory operates according to Kazakhstan standards: ST RK ISO 13500-2012 and ST RK ISO 10414-1-2012, which are identical to international standards (API 13) — ISO 13500:2008 “Petroleum and natural gas industries — Drilling fluids materials — Specifications and tests” and ISO 10414-1:2008 “Petroleum and natural gas industries — Field testing of drilling fluids. Water-based fluids.”
Our laboratory provides the following services:
Quality control of chemical reagents according to national Kazakhstan standards and API standards.

The laboratory performs comprehensive drilling fluid analysis according to API standards, data correction, and formulation of optimal recipes for specific conditions and temperatures. We also develop and select new drilling fluid systems.
One of our latest developments is the FORTIDRILL drilling fluid system.
We create conditions—using specialized equipment—that closely simulate real downhole environments by employing a roller oven and HPHT (high pressure, high temperature) filter press for testing drilling fluids.
