DESCRIPTION OF SMARTHIB / SOLTEX SYSTEM

For drilling wells which are difficult due to reactive clay and argillaceous rock SMARTEX DF offers a water-based drilling fluid system SMARTHIB / SOLTEX, that has excellent inhibiting and stabilizing characteristics. This system is based on agents SMARTHIB and SOLTEX.

SMARTHIB is a unique, patented water-soluble organic liquid based on high-performance polyglycols, glycol and potassium salts mixture, that is used to stabilize the hydrating and dispersing slate. The active agents of this chemical are initially adsorbed on clay surface, replacing water and thus reducing the ability of water molecules to penetrate into pelitic textures. Since SMARTHIB prevents dispersion, hydration and transition of clay into drilling fluid, this allows to maintain good flow characteristics of the solution and minimizes possible plugging of the reservoir, that increases production rates of the well in future.

Chemical SOLTEX®, is a petroleum bitumen, turned into a water-soluble material through a special process of sulfonation. It is a universal additive to drilling fluids for control of hydration and screes of clay slates.

Advantages of SMARTHIB / SOLTEX system

  • The cost is comparable to conventional KCL/polymer solution with much higher efficiency;
